I began making and recording ambient soundscapes in my living room in April 2021 to cope with my depression and anxiety in healthy ways. At the end of April I self released my first EP (Dead Give a Way) of four tracks that I released completely independently.

For my first full LP release I wanted to put more thought into the concept behind the record and have someone else help on mixing the tracks over all. “Pot Hoop” is a collection of 10 Ambient Soundscapes that were recorded in the Spring of 2021. The album starts and ends with tracks recorded on the Oregon Coast. Tracks 2-8 were recorded in my living room at home with a wide variety of instruments both electronic & acoustic.

My recording process is improvisational sound creation using a looping pedal in which I usually start with big sweeping Midi Keyboard sounds. Then I usually layer guitar, vocals, Artiphon Orba, Korg Monotron and other sounds on top of the original loop. I then record into a iZotope first generation Spire Portable Audio Recorder. Every track is created on the spot and reflects my mood at the moment.

For finishing the album I had my neighbor, Ralph Reign who is a Conscious Hip Hop artist and producer, give their intrinsic touch to the album. They took the tracks and cleaned up some of my mistakes while making them sound fuller, deeper & better overall. I appreciated having someone else take time to help me learn about the process of mastering ambient noise.
